All about Ma Prime Rénov’ assistance

ma-prime-renov

MaPrimeRénov’ is a grant that was introduced at the beginning of 2021. The ANAH (National Housing Agency) took this initiative with the aim of reducing the energy consumption of the French population.

MaPrimeRenov’ is also a grant for owners and co-owners who wish to improve the comfort of their homes. It replaced the CITE (Tax Credit for Energy Transition) and effectively contributes to the fight against thermal sieves.

If you want to benefit from this ANAH grant as part of a renovation, you must have the right information. This article will cover all aspects of MaPrimeRénov’ so you can make your renovation dreams a reality.

The specific features of MaPrimeRenov’

The French government is increasingly encouraging citizens to undertake energy renovations in an effort to lower their bills. With this in mind, the ANAH (National Agency for the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women) has introduced the MaPrimeRénov’ (MaPrimeRénov) grant to allow all homeowners to benefit from the renovations at lower costs.

Aid that replaces the CITE and Habiter Mieux agility

MaPrimeRénov’ does not supplement existing aid programs in France. More specifically, it was created by merging two major programs, namely the CITE (Centre for the Employment of Individuals with Disabilities) and the Habiter Mieux agilité (Housing Better Agility) program.

It replaces these two programs to make the process easier for applicants. The grant will be distributed by a single organization, the France Renov’ counter. This allows for faster payment of the grant. You can receive the grant within 15 days of your application being processed.

A bonus accessible to all

Initially, MaPrimeRénov’ was a grant dedicated to middle-income households with modest resources, while maintaining the principles of the CITE. However, the grant was expanded in 2021.

Since then, MaPrimeRénov’ has been available to owner-occupiers and landlords, as well as to co-ownership associations. As a result, the grant is now accessible to everyone. However, various color profiles have been implemented to differentiate between income levels. You will also be able to distinguish between blue, yellow, purple, and pink.

A cumulative bonus

The MaPrimeRénov’ grant has the advantage of being combined with the CEE (Energy Savings Certificate) bonus offered by energy suppliers. Starting in July 2022, you will also be eligible for CEE bonuses for energy renovation work. You can also finance your renovation project up to 90% of the total cost of the work.

Eligibility conditions for MaPrimeRenov’

Since mid-2021, MaPrimeRenov’ has been available to owner-occupiers, landlords, and condominium associations. This allows them to carry out energy renovation work in a home occupied as a primary residence. This is particularly beneficial if you own a rental apartment or house.

Since its creation, the aid was reserved for homes completed at least 2 years ago. However, since the beginning of 2022, the MaPrimeRenov’ aid only takes into consideration residences completed more than 15 years ago. Note that there is nevertheless an exception within the framework of this ANAH aid . These are the bonuses concerning the replacement of an oil boiler and the removal of a tank. Indeed, for these types of requests, homes more than 2 years old will still be able to apply for aid.

Furthermore, the minimum duration of occupancy of the dwelling has also undergone a change. Indeed, the house or apartment must be occupied as a primary residence for 8 months, compared to 6 previously. Also, the owner must commit to occupying the property as a primary residence for a period of one year from the date of the aid application. As for landlords, they must commit to renting the dwelling as a primary residence for a period of at least 5 years.

In addition to these deadlines, the period for carrying out energy renovation work has been extended to two years since 2022. This means that households with low incomes will have one year to complete the work, compared to six months previously.

Resource ceilings for MaPrimeRenov’

Since the beginning of 2022, all owners and co-owners can benefit from MaPrimeRénov’. However, the amount of the bonus will depend on the nature of the renovation work to be carried out, the location, and the owner’s income. With this in mind, four types of income have been established.

Blue represents a very low income. This color is assigned to households with incomes below €15,262 for one person and €35,894 for five. These figures correspond to households outside the Île-de-France region. In the latter, very low incomes generate less than €21,123 for one person and €49,736 for five.

The yellow color represents households with modest incomes. This includes households generating less than €19,565 for one person and €46,015 for five. For the Île-de-France region, income must be less than €25,714 for one person and €60,546 for five to fall into this category.

Purple is assigned to households with average incomes. Households with incomes below €29,148 for one person and €69,081 for five are affected. In the Île-de-France region, they must be below €38,184 for one person and €90,496 for five.

High-income households are represented by pink. Households with more than €29,148 for one person and €69,081 for five are included in the latter. In the Île-de-France region, households in the pink generate more than €38,184 for one person and more than €90,596 for five people.

Thus, depending on the profile, the assistance provided by MaPrimeRénov’ will be more or less generous. For example, for households in the blue category, the bonus can be as high as 90% of the cost of renovation work. This percentage then drops for the wealthiest households. Consequently, for households in the pink category, the assistance is limited to a few projects such as wall insulation.

Work eligible for MaPrimeRénov’ assistance

Under the ANAH’s MaPrimeRénov’ grant, several projects are eligible. You can include all insulation work, whether it concerns walls, floors, attics, or windows. The grant also allows for work related to heating and a home’s energy audit. Generally, to benefit from the grant, energy renovation work must be carried out by an RGE (Recognized Environmental Guarantor) company .

However, in some cases, it is possible to carry out work without going through an RGE company or professional to benefit from the bonus. Indeed, for the installation of certain heating equipment or for thermal insulation, owners can waive this obligation.

In addition to the bonus, households that carry out work to remove themselves from the list of energy-saving energy sieves can receive a bonus of up to €1,500. This requires an audit to be carried out before the work begins. The same applies to particularly ambitious energy renovation projects. If the owner achieves energy label B, they can receive a BBC (Low Energy Building) bonus of up to €1,500.

The MaPrimeRenov’ aid application procedure

As for the procedure to follow to benefit from the aid, you must apply on the France Renov’ platform . To obtain the bonus, it is necessary to follow a few essential steps.

In particular, you must have a quote from an RGE company. It is important not to sign before submitting the renovation request. Therefore, you must submit a request via the France Renov’ counter.

You must have the unsigned quote, tax information, and the contribution framework. You must then wait to find out if you are eligible and the amount of the bonus. Once the request is accepted, you can sign the quote and proceed with the energy renovation work. You must then return your invoice with your RIB (Bank Identity Statement) to receive the bonus by bank transfer.

Please note that it is not possible to submit two applications simultaneously. Therefore, if you have a file currently being processed for MaPrimeRénov’ assistance, you will have to wait. You can only submit another application for an ANAH bonus once you have received the bonus or after your file has been closed.
